Cable News Network chairman Walter Isaacson and ABC News president David
Westin have hammered out a operating plan in the event that the news
organizations merge, Isaacson said.
"We know how we would do it," he said, speaking at a meeting of the Georgia
chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. "We know exactly how to do
it, and I think it would make sense."
His comments, reported in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, were
confirmed by a CNN spokeswoman.
Asked about the hiatus in negotiations between CNN parent AOL Time Warner
Inc. and ABC owner The Walt Disney Co., Isaacson said AOL "has a couple of other
things on its agenda" before making a decision on the merger.
