CNN has cancelled its realiy series Believer less than a week after series host Reza Aslan made derogatory remarks about President Donald Trump.

Aslan in a Tweet Friday said that he was "disappointed" that the series -- which examined various religions around the world --was cancelled, but agreed that it was best to part ways with the network.

Aslan in a June 3 tweet called Trump a "piece of s**t' and an "embarrasement to humankind" in response to one of the President's tweets promoting his controversial travel ban after the terroist attack at London Bridge.

Aslan later deleted the tweet and in another tweet apologized for his response.

The announcement comes on the heels of CNN's firing of comedian Kathy Griffin earlier this month after Griffin posed with a prop resembling a bloodied, severed head of the president. Griffin hosted the network's New Year's Eve special with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
