Cable News Network is bringing Midwest regional bureau chief Edith Chapin to the “Big Apple” as its New York bureau chief, officials said Tuesday.
Effective Aug. 29, Chapin will coordinate CNN coverage in New York and the Northeast as head of the New York bureau. She fills a vacancy that has been open for several months, since Karen Curry left the New York slot.
As CNN’s Chicago-based Midwest chief, Chapin oversaw newsgathering for the network’s bureaus in the “Windy City,” Dallas and Denver. Prior to that, she served as deputy chief and managing editor of CNN’s New York bureau, where she helped to coordinate coverage of the Sept. 11 attacks and the aftermath.
