Cable News Network's New York bureau near Madison Square Garden was evacuated
Thursday, officials said.

CNN's New York Bureau at 5 Penn Plaza was evacuated for about 45 minutes,
beginning at 11:30 a.m., for security reasons after one of the 'businesses
reported something that alarmed them,' a CNN spokesperson said. But there was no
bomb threat received at CNN, the spokesperson added.

Police searched part of the building with bomb-sniffing dogs, but they did
not search the CNN facilities, the spokesperson said.

CNN anchors Aaron Brown and Paula Zahn reported from the street outside the
bureau during the evacuation.

An announcement of an evacuation was made at Cablevision Systems Corp.'s
offices at 2 Penn Plaza Thursday morning, a spokesperson said. But it was
apparently a false alarm, and the office -- which houses employees for
Cablevision, Rainbow Media Holdings Inc, and MetroChannels -- was not evacuated,
the spokesperson said.
