Washington -- Cable News Network will air a live debate
between the Republican presidential candidates, including Texas Gov. George W. Bush,
Monday (Dec. 6) from Phoenix.
In addition to Bush, CNN Election 2000 Special: The
Arizona Republican Primary Debate will include candidates Gary Bauer, Steve Forbes,
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Alan Keyes, officials said Tuesday. Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz.) has said he will be unable to attend the event, which will take place from 8
p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater.
CNN prime anchor Judy Woodruff will moderate, taking
questions from panelists Candy Crowley, the CNN senior political correspondent, and John
King, CNN's White House correspondent.
In January, CNN and WMUR-TV will sponsor two debates in
Manchester, N.H. -- one between the Republican presidential candidates and the other
involving the Democratic candidates -- prior to the New Hampshire primary.
Last week, Fox News Channel said it and WMUR would
broadcast a debate between the top six GOP candidates from New Hampshire this Thursday
