CNN Student News Produces ‘Peril’ Segments

Tying into CNN’s upcoming two-part documentary Planet in Peril, CNN Student News will provide in-depth educational resources to help teachers and students examine the environmental issues confronting the world today.

CNN Student News has produced four video reports with the student audience in mind to introduce each of the issues explored in Planet in Peril: climate change, deforestation, species loss and overpopulation. The videos can also be found on the CNN Student News Planet in Peril Educator Resource page.

At that site, teachers and students can access additional free educational content, including learning activities, pre- and post-viewing discussion questions, an environmental quiz, footage from the documentary and the latest environmental headlines in the news.

Planet in Peril, hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Animal Planet host and biologist Jeff Corwin, will debut on the news network on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. (ET/PT).

CNN Student News airs on Headline News w.eekdays throughout the school year at 4 a.m. (ET). The show is also streamed for the Web at www.CNNStudentNews.com. CNN Student News and CNN Presents: Classroom Edition are CNN's contributions to Cable in the Classroom, the industry’s educational initiative.
