Larry King's last played to almost 2.3 million viewers.

The finale of the Larry King Live franchise averaged 2.25 million viewers on Dec. 16, according to Nielsen data, a 100% jump from the previous night. King's curtain closer edged Fox News Channel's Hannity's 2.16 million watchers.

However, Hannity won the news demo battle, counting 543,000 adult 25-to-54 viewers, compared with 530,00 for King.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show posted 874,000 total viewers and 252,000 adults 25-54.

King's last show featured appearances by Bill Maher, Ryan Seacreast, Donald Trump and Suze Orman, plus video messages from President Barack Obama and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

King also interviewed former Bill Clinton and fielded questions from "himself" as Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen dressed as the news host.

Network news anchors Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and Brian WIlliams, plus Barbara Walters joined the show from New York. Couric read a poem in tribute to King.
