Collette Wins Emmy For Best Actress In A Comedy

Showtime earned the first Emmy during the televised portion of awards show Sunday as actress Toni Collette walked off with the best comedy actress award for her performance in Showtime's United States of Tara.

Collette, who plays a schizophrenic wife and mother in the Steven-Spielberg-produced Showtime's freshman series, beat out Christina Applegate, (Samantha Who?); Tina Fey (30 Rock); Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine); Julia-Louise Parker (Weeds); and Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program).
