Com21 Pens Order, Partnerships

Com21 Inc. has cobbled together an order with a European cable operator and
two software-integration partnerships for its line of cable modems.

In the first deal, Dutch MSO Essent Kabelcom will buy more than $7 million
worth of Com21's Digital Video Broadcasting-based, voice-capable 'ComPORT 1100'
cable modems and various headend gear for deployment in the Netherlands. The MSO
currently serves more than 1.5 million homes throughout Holland.

Com21 also made waves on the provisioning front, inking integration
agreements with Netsurfer Inc. and Alopa Networks Inc. for its Data Over Cable
Service Interface Specification 1.0-certified 'DOXport 1110' cable modem.

Specifically, Com21 will marry that model with Netsurfer's 'NetKit'
provisioning and management software and Alopa's 'MetaServe' self-provisioning
software system, which automates billing and customer care.

Com21 said those deals will reduce cable-operator truck rolls and overall
installation times.
