Comcast Adds Another Retail Partner

Comcast Corp. is expanding its retail presence, signing a deal with hhgregg, a regional consumer electronics specialty retailer, to add digital cable, high-definition programming services, high-speed Internet and digital voice services to its in-store product mix.

hhgregg has 96 stores under that name and as Fine Lines in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.

About half of the stores will offer consumers in-depth information about available products and if they choose to buy, they can order service and schedule installations while they are in the store. They will be equipped with a Comcast display with an interactive HDTV so consumers can learn about the locally available Comcast features.

“You wouldn't buy a toy without also bringing home the batteries. The same goes for best-in-class service when firing up a new phone, computer or HD television,” said Bob Faught, senior vice president of retail sales and alternative sales channels for Comcast.

Consumers who subscribe in hhgregg stores will be rewarded with a $100 gift check for a single product purchase and up to $250 for multiple purchases.

Comcast previously brokered retail arrangements with Best Buy, Radio Shack, OfficeMax, Circuit City and other electronics retailers.
