Comcast Corp. said Thursday that it has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarship money to high-school students in Maryland from the 2005 graduating class.

The MSO said it has awarded nearly $1 million in scholarship money across the state of Maryland since the “Comcast Student Achievement Awards Program” and the “Comcast Foundation Leaders & Achievers Program” kicked off in 1992.

“Corporate support of higher education is critical, and it's been exciting to see the Student Achievement Awards program grow across Maryland since it began 13 years ago,” Comcast senior vice president, Maryland-Delaware region Barbara A. Gehrig said in a prepared statement. “I am proud that this year, Student Achievement Awards have been presented to one student from each of Maryland's high schools in the areas we serve.”
