Comcast Business Expands Reach Of Ethernet Platform

Comcast Business said it has expanded the reach of its speedy Ethernet platform across 17 communities in Rutland County, Vt., complementing its build out last year to 17 municipalities of Chittenden County.

The service is tailored for mid-sized businesses as well as schools and hospitals,

“We’ve made significant investments to expand the availability of our services across the state, starting with our 2013 rollout of Ethernet across Chittenden County and now with this expansion in Rutland County, and we’re excited to bring our Ethernet services to more of Vermont to help drive competition, innovation and value for our customers,” said Charlie Tzoumas, VP for Comcast Business in the Western New England Region, in a statement.

Comcast’s Ethernet services, which include Ethernet Private Line, Virtual Private Line, Ethernet Network Service and Ethernet Dedicated Internet offerings, are delivered over a network that presently spans 140,000 miles across 39 states and the District of Columbia and serves 20 of the top 25 U.S. markets.

About 20% of Comcast’s business services revenues come from mid-sized businesses served by its growing Metro Ethernet platform. The MSO’s business unit pulled in total revenues of $917 million in the first quarter of 2014, establishing an annual run rate of $3.66 billion.
