More than 30,000 Comcast employees and their families will volunteer with nearly 300 community organizations in 34 states and the District of Columbia as part of the sixth annual Comcast Cares Day Saturday.

The MSO said its employees and their families will donate 180,000 volunteer hours of service -- the equivalent of more than 86 person-years of community service -- in one day.

The Comcast Foundation will also donate more than $1 million in grants to the local community partner organizations on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers.

“At Comcast, we appreciate how incredibly important community service is to the health and well-being of the neighborhoods we serve," chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts said in a prepared statement.

"Our employees and their families have generously given of their time and talents to help improve their communities,” he added. “We're very proud of their contributions and are delighted to be working with almost 300 partner groups throughout the country to make this year's Comcast Cares Day a resounding success.”
