Comcast, Cox Back MetaTV

Comcast Interactive Capital and Cox Communications Inc. joined Liberate
Technologies and a handful of venture-capital firms in pumping $28 million into
MetaTV Inc., which provides interactive-TV portals, services and enhanced
applications.

MetaTV has partnership deals with middleware providers Liberate, Microsoft
Corp., PowerTV Inc., OpenTV Corp. and WorldGate Communications Inc. E! Online,
Ford Motor Co. and J. Walter Thompson Worldwide have signed content deals with
the company.

MetaTV's technology allows cable operators, technology partners and content
companies to add interactive features to their service offerings.

'Our investment demonstrates our confidence in MetaTV to provide network
operators and content providers with the ability to offer new,
revenue-generating ITV services,' said Dallas Clement, senior vice president of
strategy and development for Cox, in a prepared statement.

Clement and CIC managing director Samuel Schwartz will join MetaTV's
board.
