Comcast Cranks Up 100-Mbps Business Tier In Colorado

Comcast is offering the Deluxe 100 service, which provides up to 100 Megabits per second downstream, to businesses in its Colorado region.

The service, delivered via next-generation DOCSIS 3.0 technology, is available to Comcast Business Class customers for $369.95 per month. Deluxe 100 provides 10 Mbps upload speeds.

Comcast offers the 100-Mbps business service in other markets including: Minneapolis/St. Paul, parts of New Jersey; Philadelphia and surrounding counties; Harrisburg, Pa., and parts of central Pennsylvania; northern Delaware; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore; Memphis, Tenn.; Augusta, Ga.; and Washington State and Oregon.

On the residential side, Comcast quietly has been testing price points for the 105-Mbps downstream "Extreme 105" service, which is available to more than 25 million homes in markets where the operator has launched Xfinity branding.

For businesses, Comcast is positioning Deluxe 100 against traditional dedicated T-1 lines from telcos that offer 1.5 Mbps. Other features of the Comcast Business Class suite of services include Microsoft Communication Services for e-mail and collaboration, and Norton Business Suite security software to protect up to 25 PCs from viruses and spyware.
