More than 30,000 Comcast Corp. employees and their families donated 180,000 hours of service during the fifth annual Comcast Cares Day Saturday, the MSO said Wednesday.
The company said the time represented the equivalent of more than 86 years of service in one day.
In addition, the Comcast Foundation will donate more than $1 million in grants to the community-partner organizations the employee volunteers worked with Saturday.
“Every year, I am amazed by the generosity of our employees in giving of their time on a Saturday to help their communities,” Comcast chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts said in a prepared statement.
“We are all busy, but the fact that 30,000 of our employees and their families gave up their Saturday to help others speaks volumes about our people," he added. "We are extremely proud and grateful to our employees and to the nonprofits that provide support every day to our communities.”
