Comcast Expands TV One Distribution

Comcast Cable will increase distribution of African-American targeted network TV One in its Chicago and Miami systems, the MSO announced Monday.
The network will gain an unspecified number of subscribers by moving from Comcast's Digital Preferred tier to its higher penetrated Digital Starter tier of service, according to Comcast, which holds a minority interest in TV One.
"We've long recognized the important perspective, distinctive voice and compelling programming TV One offers to our customers," said David Jensen, Vice President of Content Acquisition for Comcast Cable in a statement. "We are pleased to expand its availability in the Chicago and Miami areas and to continue to broaden and strengthen the diverse lineup we deliver."
Added TV One Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing Michelle Rice: "We thank Comcast for its strong support and are confident we will continue to provide them with a channel that will serve their African American customers' entertainment interests and provide all their customers with a chance to experience and appreciate the breadth and depth of the African American culture."
