Comcast First to Launch ‘Showtime Anytime’

Premium cable network Showtime
has entered the “TV Everywhere”
arena with the launch of the authentication-
based Showtime Anytime broadband
service on Comcast.

Consumers getting the service will access
current and previous episodes of
Showtime series and more than 100 movie
titles, including The Hurt Locker, chairman
and CEO Matt Blank said.

The website is
expected to launch later this year. Comcast
subscribers can access the service now
through Showtime is talking
to other potential affiliates now.

Showtime joins competing premium
TV services Home Box Office, Starz and
Epix, as well as such basic services as TBS,
TNT, A&E Network, Discovery Channel
and ESPN in off ering online extensions of
their programming to subscribers of affi liated
multichannel video providers.

The Showtime Anytime portal will offer
a “My List” feature with a personalized
list of programs to
watch. Each series offering
is defined by an
image on the site consumers
can click on to
access current and past
episodes — every installment
from Dexter’s
five seasons is currently
available, for example.
Consumers can direct
the site to deliver new
episodes automatically
to “My List.”
