Comcast Corp. is reaching into the wireless world to plug its wireline
high-speed Internet service.
The MSO has forged a pact that will bring "Comcast High-Speed Internet"
service information to 290 Wireless Retail Inc. retail kiosks located inside
Sam's West Inc.'s Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club Inc., Menards Inc. and Kmart
Corp. stores, among others.
While co-marketing with a wireless outfit might seem a bit unusual for a
cable provider, it is really all about gaining the retail presence, said Chris
Caffrey, vice president of retail sales for Comcast.
"Our agreement with Wireless Retail, which has one of the country's largest
retail-distribution networks, makes it easy and convenient for customers to
learn about Comcast High-Speed Internet where they shop," he said in a
"Wireless Retail's consultative sales approach, combined with its vast
experience selling technology products and services, makes it a natural
distribution partner for Comcast," Caffrey added.
