Comcast Hires SVP, Xfinity Home and IoT Products

Comcast Cable has hired former Hewlett Packard exec Sridhar Solur to the post of SVP, product development for Xfinity Home and Internet of Things  (IoT).

In that role, Solur will lead product development for the Xfinity Home business, which includes devices and services in the IoT, home automation, and home security categories. He is also coming on board as the MSO continues development on its own line of smart home products and integrates third-party products via “Works with Xfinity Home” initiative.

Xfinity Home, which provides security and home automation services and recently added 24/7 video recording capabilities, has more than 500,000 subs.

At HP, Solur was the founder and GM of the company’s wearables and IoT business, as well as the founder and World Wide director of HP’s cloud and mobile printing business (HP ePrint).

Solur reports to Chris Satchell, the former Nike and Microsoft exec who joined Comcast Cable last year as EVP and chief product officer, as part of the MSO’s Product Leadership Team. Solur will also work closely with Daniel Herscovici, SVP and GM of Xfinity Home, and Fraser Stirling, Comcast’s SVP, product & hardware management, the operator said.

"Home automation, IoT, and home security are increasingly important product categories for Comcast,” Satchell said, in a statement. “Sridhar’s extensive experience in the fast-evolving, high-growth business of connected devices will be a strong addition to the Comcast team. We look forward to leveraging his knowledge and vision as we explore emerging technologies to ultimately create the best experience for our customers."

"Sri will add a valuable perspective to our product development work and be a terrific partner as we continue to grow our home security and automation business,” added Herscovici.
