Star India Plus launched today as a premium channel on Comcast's system in Houston .
Beginning April 27, Star India Plus, that nation's No. 1 Hindi channel, will be available in Houston on Comcast channel 723 for $11.95 per month.
Deal terms between Star, a wholly owned subsidiary of News Corp. and Asia's leading media and entertainment company, and the top U.S. cable operator were not disclosed.
Star India Plus regularly features many of the top programs in the country, including primetime soap operas Bidaai and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, as well as some of the India's favorite reality and game shows such as Nach Baliye and Star Voice of India.
"Throughout North America, we've seen demand and excitement build to a boiling point for Star India Plus," said David Wisnia, Star senior vice president for distribution and sales and head of Star's North American and European offices, in a statement. "Following Star India Plus debut on Comcast's California platform, we're thrilled to extend our partnership into Houston and look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Comcast going forward."
