Comcast Names Bell to Board

Comcast said Wednesday that it has named The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia CEO Madeline Bell to its board of directors effective Feb. 22.

Bell was tapped to lead the hospital in July – she had been chief operating officer since 2010. She also was named to the board’s audit committee. She has been deemed an independent director, in accordance with NASDAQ rules and with her appointment, Comcast’s board is 42% diverse.

With Bell’s appointment, Comcast expands its board to 12 members. She is the second woman named to the board which includes Kenneth Bacon, Sheldon Bonovitz, Ed Breen, Joe Collins, J. Michael Cook, Gerald Hassell, Jeffrey Honickman, Eduardo Mestre, Brian Roberts, Johnathan Rodgers and Dr. Judith Rodin.
