Comcast Rolls Out Brazilian Net in North N.J.

Comcast has launched TV Globo Internacional, the Portuguese-language network, in northern New Jersey, officials said Wednesday.

Comcast customers in the Union, Plainfield, Meadowlands, Jersey City and Monmouth areas can now add the Brazilian channel to their current subscription for an additional $19.99 a month. TV Globo Internacional is available on channel 682.

To build awareness around the addition of TV Globo Internacional, Comcast launched a fully integrated marketing campaign designed to notify and involve consumers in Brazilian and Portuguese neighborhoods, as well as community leaders and government officials. The launch campaign includes comprehensive advertising, a launch reception for press and community leaders, and a presence at the 23rd Annual Brazilian Day Festival Sept. 2 in New York City.

TV Globo Internacional features a variety of Portuguese-language programming for viewers around the world, and is currently available in 104 countries. It provides more than 4,000 hours each year of entertainment programming for the whole family, including award-winning telenovelas, miniseries, musicals, comedy shows, documentaries, newscasts, live soccer and more.

The majority of its shows originate from TV Globo’s studios in Rio de Janeiro, while others, like the viewer favorite Planeta Brasil, are produced in New York, especially for its international audience.
