Comcast-Spectacor is taking on Ticketmaster.
The Comcast unit announced ComcastTIX, which will handle ticket sales for Philadelphia-area venues including the Wachovia Center; the Wachovia Spectrum; the Liacouras Center at Temple University; the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J.; and the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, N.J.
Tickets will be available exclusively via the Internet (www.comcasttix.com), via phone at 800-298-4200, at select Acme Markets and at the designated arenas' box offices.
The service will debut when individual-game tickets for the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers go on sale on Saturday at 10 a.m. (EST) via all of the options mentioned above and the team’s Web site (www.philadelphiaflyers.com).
Comcast-Spectacor owns the Flyers, the National Basketball Association’s Philadelphia 76ers, the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Phantoms, the two arenas in which their teams play (the Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum), four Flyers Skate Zone community ice-skating and hockey rinks and regional sports network Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.
“ComcastTIX provides our guests with a personalized service and additional opportunities in their ticket-purchase experience,” Comcast-Spectacor president Peter Luukko said in a prepared statement. “As an added benefit, ComcastTIX will now enable our customers to electronically forward their season tickets to a friend or client.”
