Comcast Speeds Up EWTN Launches

Comcast Corp. launched Eternal Word Television Network and EWTN Español in its Southern California systems Thursday.

The launch was originally slated for June, but the MSO accelerated it in order to accommodate interest in the ceremonies for late Pope John Paul II.

“Comcast is pleased to offer our customers EWTN and EWTN Español at this important time in history," regional senior vice president Debi Picciolo said in a prepared statement. "We are thankful that we could work with EWTN to accelerate this launch."

"These are indeed historic days for the Church and for the world,” EWTN president Michael P. Warsaw said in a prepared statement. “We are grateful to Comcast for their decision to launch EWTN and EWTN Español at this momentous time. We look forward to working with Comcast in Southern California in meeting the needs of their subscribers in the days and years ahead.”
