Comcast Speeds Up New England

Comcast Corp. said Thursday that it will double downstream speeds for New England residential Comcast High-Speed Internet customers from 1.5 megabits per second to 3 mbps.

The cost for Comcast High-Speed Internet will not change as a result of the improved speed.

The MSO also announced that its Comcast Home Networking service -- which features speeds of 4 mbps downstream and 384 kilobits per second upstream -- is now available throughout New England.

Comcast Home Networking allows customers to connect up to five PCs or devices; to share equipment, such as printers and scanners; and to swap files among connected computers.
