Comcast Corp. was a “Premier Sponsor” for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ 2005 Public Policy Conference and Annual Gala.

The CHCI held its two-day conference -- with 2,500 elected officials, public-policy experts, academics and business leaders discussing issues of importance to the Latino community -- in Washington, D.C., Monday and Tuesday, and the gala will be held Wednesday.

In addition to direct financial support for the event, the MSO is contributing airtime and production resources to help raise awareness of the conference with public-service announcements, as well as funding four $2,500 CHCI college sponsorships to be awarded in 2006 to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue contributing in the future, Comcast said.

“Comcast is providing a growing array of Spanish-language and Hispanic-themed programming, we are attracting an increasingly diverse work force and we are aggressively promoting multiple supplier-diversity initiatives at all levels throughout our business,” Comcast executive vice president David L. Cohen said in a prepared statement.
