With one team in the postseason and a second trying to make its way to the playoffs, Comcast SportsNet Chicago rang up big increases with its Major League Baseball coverage.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago averaged a 2.2 household rating in the Chicago DMA with 98 White Sox games this season, up 69% from its 1.3 average during 2007, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Additionally, the regional sports network posted a 57% increase with U.S. Cellular White Sox Post Game Live show this season.
The Chisox are playing the Minnesota Twins tonight at 7:30 p.m. (ET), with the winner claiming the American League Central crown and a Division Series matchup with the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays. TBS will carry the game.
Meanwhile, the National League Central champion Cubs averaged a 5.0 household rating and 173,455 households in the market over 80 games, according to Nielsen data. That marked a 19% rose over 2007’s 4.2 average. Lowe’s Cubs Post Game Live ratings also increased 29% compared to last year.
The Cubs will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Division Series, starting Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
