Comcast Corp.’s “Comcast Cares Day” volunteer effort Saturday involved 30,000 of the company’s employees (and family members) donating 180,000 hours of service in local projects and will lead to more than $1 million in charitable donations from the Comcast Foundation.
Comcast said volunteers painted schools, cleaned parks and helped to stock food banks on behalf of 284 community organizations in 32 states and the District of Columbia.
The hours total is equivalent to 20 years of service in one day, the MSO added. The foundation donations will go to the efforts for which the volunteers donated time and energy Oct. 2.
Volunteers came from all sectors of the company, from corporate headquarters in Philadelphia to local cable offices, the Comcast Spotlight ad-sales unit and programmers CN8, The Comcast Network Comcast Spectacor, Comcast SportsNet, E! Entertainment Television, The Golf Channel, Outdoor Life Network and G4techTV.
