According to a recent survey conducted on behalf of Comcast Corp., 49% of Americans said HDTV would be a critical component of their ultimate home-entertainment experience.
The survey -- conducted by ICR/International Communications Research between Nov. 17-22, using a random nationwide sample of 750 households -- also found that 43% of respondents did not expect to ever buy a standard television again.
However, when asked if it is true that someone gets the HD experience just by plugging in an HDTV, 40% of survey respondents said they didn't know.
“We know customers are presented with a multitude of information about HD, from the types of sets to the increasing amount of programming choices, some of which are available only with cable," Comcast executive vice president of operations Dave Watson said in a prepared statement.
“We want to help cut through the clutter and make it as easy as possible for customers to enjoy the cable-powered home-entertainment experience that's right for them,” he added.
