Comcast Taps JacobsRimell

JacobsRimell said it has signed a deal to provide Comcast Corp. with its intelligent Internet-protocol-provisioning platform.

The companies said JR's software will serve as the foundation for all of Comcast's voice, video and data offerings.

"JacobsRimell's technology will better enable Comcast to increase our speed to market, reduce operational costs and decrease capital expenditure, while improving customer satisfaction," Comcast executive vice president and chief technology officer David Fellows said in a prepared statement.

The software will allow Comcast employees to access databases, billing and other information across multiple platforms in one seamless experience.

In other vendor news, ARC International said set-top supplier Digeo Inc. has licensed its “ARC 600 RISC/DSP” core, “MetaWare” development tools and MP3 and AC-3 audio technology for its “X-Stream” media center chip set.
