-Following a multimillion-dollar upgrade,
Comcast Corp. has launched Comcast@Home service to 16,000 homes in this Baltimore suburb, offering high-speed data services for $39.95 per month to current subscribers and $49.95 per month to others. Comcast, which already offers digital cable to 56,000 homes in the area, said it plans to complete its county-wide, fiber-optic build-out by the second quarter of 2001.
Comcast also introduced its "High Speed Education Connection" initiative here, pledging to equip every elementary and secondary public and private school and library passed by cable lines with a cable modem and
Internet access at no cost. The program provides for a free connection in at least one site per school, the company said.
