TV Land hopes to send Comcast Corp. viewers scrambling to their computer screens to watch an exclusive TV Land Awards preshow that will be streamed at Comcast.net (www.comcast.net/comcast.html).
In a first for the network, TV Land will film a red-carpet arrivals show at the awards taping March 19 at the Barker Hanger at the Santa Monica, Calif., airport.
The preshow will be hosted by Tom Arnold, who will interview attendees as they arrive. As of press time, attendees were to include the casts of Cheers, Good Times and Dallas, in addition to celebrities such as Billy Crystal and Adam West.
The footage will be edited into a half-hour show that will be available at 8:30 p.m. (EST/PST) March 22 exclusively on Comcast.net as a prelude to the 9 p.m. cablecast of the awards on TV Land.
Comcast will publicize the Webcast with 30-second spots across its systems. Net users will also have footage from last year’s award show that was not used in the telecast, including interviews with host Cedric the Entertainer and honoree Carol Burnett.
The Web site will also include a downloadable Bewitched screen-saver and games such as the “Roseanne Loose Meat Sandwich” game.
