Comcast has unleashed a new round of updates and enhancements to its X1 platform, led off by a set of extra content for movies and TV series that provide more info about characters, the making of the program, deleted scenes, and photo galleries.

Free or purchased titles with those features  are now accompanied by an “Extras” button.

“And if you purchase a movie that contains extras, that content will be listed as the first row on the movie page,” Peter  Nush, vice president, product management at Comcast Cable explained in this blog post about the latest wave of X1 updates. “A ‘View All’ option within Extras enables you to view all content included with Purchase and Free Extras.”

Comcast, he added, has also added an SAP indicator as well as the "D))" (video description icon), which help customers tell which VOD options are available to watch in Spanish or with video description without playing the program. Comcast has also added SAP and video description filters to its VOD menus, enabling Spanish-speaking customers and people with a visual disability to more easily search for and identify content.

Nush said it’s also now possible for customers to speak Spanish into the new X1 voice remote. “While this feature is still in beta, we’re excited to offer our Spanish-speaking customers the option to more seamlessly search for and enjoy their favorite content – in whatever language they prefer,” he noted.

Last month, Comcast launched X1 En Espanol, complementing the original English version of its cloud-based video service interface.

Comcast hasn’t said how many of its video subs are on the X1 platform, but the MSO has been shipping about 30,000 X1 boxes per day.
