Comedy Central Launches Open Mic Fight

Comedy Central will host a new national stand-up competition, Open Mic Fight.

The preliminary round includes 72 regional finalists selected by the network from an incoming pool of videotaped and uploaded submissions.

Competitions will be held in Boston, New York, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Austin, Texas. During the final rounds, the network’s Web site will open up voting to viewers, and 12 semifinalists will compete in a live event in Los Angeles Sept. 6. Clips of the top three finalists will then be posted online where viewers can vote.

The grand prize includes an appearance on Comedy’s Friday NightStand-Up, exposure on Comedy’s site, a performance as the opening act on a Comedy Central Live Tour and inclusion as a featured comic on iTunes, video-on-demand and mobile platforms, as well as talent representation and $10,000 cash.

Burger King is the exclusive sponsor of Open Mic Fight.
