Hotel guests nationwide may eventually be able to use reward points from hotel loyalty programs to pay for video-on-demand movies and other services.
On Command Video Corp. said Friday that it would demonstrate a solution at the HITEC conference in Los Angeles, which runs from June 21-23.
The hotel pay-per-view content distributor noted in a press release that reward points can become a liability for hotel chains.
“Providing the guest with the option of using points to pay for services will help to increase revenues and reduce liability,” On Command senior vice president of marketing and programming Tad Walden said in a prepared statement.
On Command also announced that it has launched HDTV fare in select Hilton Garden Inn hotels.
The company said it integrated five HDTV channels with its VOD PPV entertainment system.
“HDTV, whether on-demand movies or live sports events, will dramatically transform the viewing experience for the hotel,” Walden said in a prepared statement.
