Compaq to Pitch Broadband with PCs

Compaq Computer Corp. plans to offer EarthLink Network Inc. high-speed
Internet service to consumers who buy new 'Presario' Internet PCs, the companies
said Thursday.

Presario owners will see the pitch through an on-screen message when they
turn on their new PCs, the companies said in a press release.

EarthLink access is sold through cable, digital subscriber line and two-way
satellite.

Subscribers can sign up for eight electronic-mail addresses and eight Web
sites.

EarthLink has more than 471,000 broadband customers.
