Conexant Systems Monday introduced a family of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0-plus cable-modem integrated circuits for traditional broadcast and next-generation Internet-protocol-based broadband-video services.

The company is aiming the CX2445X chips at advanced cable set-top boxes with digital-video-recording capabilities, as well as basic two-way set-tops and DOCSIS cable modems used in bidirectional networks. Key features include three demodulators with a downstream channel-bonding capability, which Conexant said significantly increases bandwidth capacity and lets cable operators more efficiently deliver video to subscribers.

The CX2445X is sampling now, with volume production scheduled for the third calendar quarter of 2007.
