Cory in the House at Disney Channel

Disney Channel -- which recently scored with a pair of its shows moving into syndication -- recorded another series first: a spinoff.

Casting is under way and production is expected to start next month on Cory in the House, which is emanating from the network’s most successful series, That’s So Raven. Disney ordered a baker’s dozen worth of episodes, the first of which is slated to premiere in November. The series will see Raven’s little brother, Cory (Kyle Massey), and dad, Victor (Rondell Sheridan), continue their roles in a new setting: the White House, where Victor is the new personal chef for the president.

As for Raven, Disney continues to parse out new episodes of the series, which became the network’s first to reach 100 installments, all of which have produced. A Disney spokeswoman said fresh episodes of Raven will continue to premiere strategically, but Buena Vista Television has not yet brought the series to the syndication market.

Speaking of syndication, superstation WGN last month announced that it had picked up Disney’s Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens, with plans to debut the shows as part of a family-programming block in early fringe, beginning this fall.
