Court Approves Dish Blockbuster Deal

As expected, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved Dish Network's $320 million purchase of troubled video rental chain Blockbuster on Thursday.
According to published reports, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Burton Lifland approved the deal, rejecting objections from some creditors.
Dish announced Wednesday that it had emerged as the winner in a one-day auction for Blockbuster. Dish beat out bids from activist investor Carl Icahn and a group of bondholders led by hedge fund Monarch Alternative Capital.
