Cox Adds DVR Features

Cox Communications Inc. said it is offering two new features for subscribers to its Motorola Inc. “DCT6412” digital-video-recorder/HDTV set-top box.

The MSO is downloading dual-tuner software that will allow customers to record two programs simultaneously while watching a previously recorded program or to watch a live program while recording an additional program.

"The new dual-tuner functionality brings our customers an even more enhanced DVR experience," said David Pugliese, vice president of product marketing and management, in a prepared statement.

Cox subscribers will also see an enhanced interactive program guide with Pioneer New Media Technologies Inc.'s updated “Passport Echo” software. The software allows for enhanced recording options, plus title and keyword search.

Cox leases set-tops for $9.95 per month, and the DVR service costs an additional $4.95.
