Cox Communications Inc. -- which had been using N2 Broadband Inc.'s content-distribution system for its video-on-demand rollouts -- announced that it is adding the vendor's "MediaPoint" asset-management system to the mix.
The MediaPoint AMS provides Cox with automated content-staging and management capabilities, including the automatic validation and correction of metadata at the headend, which had previously been done manually.
"With N2 Broadband's MediaPoint AMS, we are solving operational needs for cost reductions by automating the process of receiving, inspecting and tailoring our VOD content," said John Hildebrand, vice president of multimedia technology at Cox, in a prepared statement.
This marks the 70th deployment of MediaPoint AMS, N2 said. Cox is using N2's content-distribution system in Oklahoma City; Hampton Roads, Va.; and San Diego.
