Cox Beefs Up Data Offerings


Cox Communications increased both the speed of its high-speed-data offerings and the available e-mail storage space.

The MSO said its Value option was boosted from 256 kilobits per second downstream and upstream to 1.5 megabits per second and 256 kbps, respectively; its Preferred option was jacked up to 7 mbps downstream and 512 kbps upstream from 4 mbps and 512 kbps, respectively; and its Premier subscribers are now at 10-15 mbps downstream and 1 mbps upstream, up from 9 mbps and 1 mbps, respectively.

Cox also quadrupled the storage amount available for all of its high-speed-Internet customers who use its e-mail service, including free WebMail, from 250 megabytes to 1 gigabyte per mailbox.
