Cox Bows Big Ten Network In Omaha

Expanding its base with the sports service, Cox has launched the Big Ten Network in the Omaha, Neb. market.
The move is a boon for Iowa Hawkeye fans as the Omaha DMA spills into western Iowa, part of the conference's footprint.
Cox, which already carries Big Ten Network in its Phoenix and Tuscon, Ariz., Topeka Kan, and Cleveland service areas, is positioning it as standard-definition channel 233 in Omaha and HD channel 750.The Iowa Hawkeyes, who open their season at 11 a.m. (CT) against Northern Iowa on Saturday, Sept.5, will be the primary feed in the Omaha market. When more than one game is being carried on Big Ten Network, Cox customers can tune to channels 615 thru 618 to watch other match-ups, which this weekend features Akron at Penn State (615), Montana State at Michigan State (616), Towson at Northwestern (617) and Toledo at Purdue (618), all kicking off at the aforementioned time.
Big Ten Network will also present Northern Illinois visiting Wisconsin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.

The rollout follows a bevy of launches for the network in Pennsylvania, where the Nittany Lions are the pride of much of the state.
