Cox to Deploy ADCs DOCSIS 1.0 Switch

MINNEAPOLIS -ADC Telecommunications Inc. said Cox Communications will integrate its "Cuda 12000 IP Access Switch" in the MSO's Mid-America Region. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

ADC's Cuda 12000 houses a DOCSIS [Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification] 1.0-qualified cable-modem termination system. That CMTS is presently being tested by Cable Television Laboratories Inc. for DOCSIS 1.1, which provides a platform for the simultaneous delivery of voice and data packets, as well as quality of service. ADC gained access to the Cuda line of products via its acquisition of Broadband Access Systems Inc. earlier this year.

Cox said it selected the Cuda 12000 platform following an extensive lab evaluation.
