Cox Deploys Juniper Gear

Cox Communications Inc. is deploying Juniper Networks Inc. T-series routing
platforms on its Internet-protocol-backbone network.

Juniper's "T320" platforms will serve as peering points for Cox and help the
MSO to control costs at its regional data centers, said Jay Rolls, vice
president of telephony and data engineering at Cox.

"The T320 provides us increased performance and security while also enabling
us to better allocate resources," Rolls said in a prepared statement.

Elsewhere, Conexant Systems Inc. has introduced a direct-broadcast satellite,
single-chip set for low-end boxes. The single chip integrates parts of the
demodulation system, as well as various middleware and operating systems,
Conexant said.
