Cox Communications Inc. president and CEO Jim Robbins said Tuesday that the
MSO will make HDTV available in 85% of its markets by year-end, Reuters
Robbins, speaking at a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. media conference in New York,
said he expected the fourth-largest U.S. MSO to eventually offer a free tier of
service with local channels and the more widely watched cable networks in
HDTV is currently available to 56% of the operator’s subscribers.
He added that Cox was planning to introduce digital-video-recording service
in four additional markets this year.
