Cox Promotes Albert to SVP, Content Acquisition

Cox Communications has promoted Andy Albert to senior vice president of content acquisition, where he’ll oversee content deals, retransmission negotiations and programming contract renewals.

He’ll partner with Bob Wilson, Cox’s current chief content negotiator, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Albert, a 26-year cable vet, joined Cox as director of programming in 1995, rising to VP of programming in 2003. He started his career in finance with General Electric in Connecticut, before joining TeleCable in 1987. Albert, a leader on  Cox’s Diversity Council, also serves on the boards of Music Choice and Volar Video, and is an advisory board member for the Chastain Park Conservancy.

Cox said Albert will conduct an internal and external search to fill his former role of VP.

“Andy has a tremendous understanding of our business and the complexities of programming negotiations,” said Mark Bowser, Cox’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, in a statement. “In recent years, Andy has helped expand our content distribution rights across multiple platforms and devices and he is well-equipped to aggressively drive enhanced value in Cox’s video product.”
