said it has inked a five-year, $75 million contract renewal with
Cox Communications Inc.
for customer-care and billing services.
Under terms of the deal, Cox will use Convergys'ICOMS (Integrated Communications Operations Management System), which provides billing for bundled voice, video and data services.
Convergys, which claims its software produces more than 1 million bills each day, said Cox provided the beta test site for ICOMS 4.5, the latest release of its billing and customer care platform.
Cox, the No. 5 cable MSO with 6.2 million subscribers, said the renewal was paramount because 10 percent of its customer base is buying a bundle of two or more products. The MSO is now plotting plans to bolster its commercially offered repertoire with video-on-demand and interactive-television services.
