Cox Testing Cross-Platform Access to Voice Mail, E-Mail

Cox Communications Inc. in Omaha, Neb., is testing “MessageManager” from uReach Technologies Inc., which allows the MSO’s high-speed-Internet and digital-telephone subscribers the ability to check voice mail on their computer and electronic mail over the phone.

MessageManager features an integrated address book and calendar, plus enhanced messaging-notification capabilities. Cox customers have a universal mailbox to manage messages from both their voice-mail and e-mail accounts. The software also allows customers to screen messages without requiring another machine.

"Cox is continuously seeking ways to bring added convenience and value to our customers," said Mike Pacifico, director of marketing for Cox Digital Telephone in Omaha, in a prepared statement.

"This service provides our telephone and high-speed-Internet customers in Omaha with the benefit of having access to all of their voice mail and e-mail messages from any device," he added.
